Think of something you use on a regular basis that requires a code to be entered. For example, the key pad on an automatic garage door opener (don't use this example, be creative and think of something else).

1. What is the object you are thinking of, and how does the code work (i.e., how many digits are in the code and the number of choices per digit)?

2. Does the code require the digits to be entered in a specific sequence or order?

3. How many possible codes exist for this object (of which only one would be the correct code)?

4. If a code-breaking device generates a new code every second (one code per second, this is a very slow device with today's technology), how long will it take in DAYS for the code breaker to try every possible code for the object you thought of?
