  1. What are the two standard models for the effect of air friction?  By model of the effect of air friction, I mean the functional form for air friction that we sometimes use.
  2. Why do you think air resistance increases significantly when the speed of an object exceeds the speed of sound?
  3. For speeds exceeding that of sound, air resistance varies approximately linearly with velocity.  Considering your answer to (2), can you explain why this might be the case?
