WarmUp Exercise #10, 9/23  (Assignment Due 9/25)

The problem we will be looking at over the next day or so is that of a damped-driven pendulum.  This oscillator is simulated in the animation below.  Keeping all of the default values except the drive strength (this includes the x0 = -0.5 or -π/2).  Consider the following scenarios and their steady-state behaviors.

  1. When steady state is reached, what period does the oscillator have for the following drive strengths?
HINT: Carefully consider the definition of the period.
Also, you may right-click on a graph to clone it to enlarge the view.
    1. σ = 1.06
    2. σ = 1.078
    3. σ = 1.081
    4. σ = 1.0826

x0/π =       v0/π =
ω0/2π =     ωd/2π =
γ/2π =     σ =

Answer in the form below, a short answer for each is fine.
