Results
  • The quantitative part (checklist) was worthless
  • The observers could not agree on how to measure the frequencies, and thus results varied wildly.
  • The followup comments were often quite revealing

"The instructor asked many questions, but did not wait long enough for students to answer..."
"The lecture was very well organized, but there was little discussion or activity."
"This question was hard to answer because there wasn't any discussion..."

"Most of the students were extremely attentive throughout our observation time..."
"The instructor frequently used students' responses to further explain the material..."
"The most effective component was incorporating the warmup responses during different points in the lecture... rather than reviewing them at the beginning or the end of class."
