    "I am good at problem solving in math and science."
  2. Value group: alpha = 0.781 (4 questions)
    "This course applies to my future learning or job skills."
  3. Computer use group: alpha = 0.746 (6 questions)
    "When I need information, I often use the computer as a primary source."
  4. Group work group: alpha = 0.874 (6 questions)
    "Working with other students helps me understand the material."
  5. Expectations group: alpha = 0.725 (7 questions)
    "I expect the homework to be useful in helping me learn."
  6. Study Skills group: alpha = 0.737 (13 questions)
    "It is important to read assigned material before it is discussed in class."

Results
  • For fall 2001, 281 paired responses from approximately 600 students
  • Statistically significant changes in Confidence, Value, Expectations, Study skills.
  • All changes were negative.
  • All changes were extremely small: largest was -6.5%
  • Pretest/pretest across semesters shows even less change.
  • Students receiving D's and F's show fewer changes.
