Conclusions

Q:Why would anyone want to use Java?

• It is not particularly fast.
• It is not particularly easy to learn.
• The GUI is not very powerful.
• It is still beta and crashes all too often.

But it is good enough. Java is not too big and not too small. The AWT does a tolerable job of building a platform independent user interface. It has built in Internet connectivity. Much of what needs to be done for Physics education does not require a number cruncher. Less may be more as far as the student is concerned.
