Course Announcements - 5/9/10
  • It has been a great semester. I enjoyed working with all of you throughout. I think you all learned a great deal.
  • The final exams have been graded, and class average was a respectable 63%. Scores are available here. If you wish to pick up your exam, they are available in the physics department office, LD154
  • I have posted the final grades as well. You should be able to see them on Oncourse.

  • Science News: Nasa's new Solar Dynamics Observatory recently started sending back images and videos of the sun at far higher resolution than had previously been available.
  • Science History: April 30, is the birthday of Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777-1855). Gauss's contributions to physics and astronomy were among the most important of his time. They are overshadowed only by his contributions to mathematics, were are among the most important of any time.
  • Technology History: On May 1, 1888, Nikola Tesla was awarded 6 patents for AC motors, generators and power transmission technology.

At 630 feet, the Gateway Arch, in St. Louis, Missouri, is tallest monument in the US. The Wahington Monument is 555 feet, and the Statue of Liberty is only 305 feet.
